2026 Queensland Day Awards: Nominate Community Heroes and Vote for Local Favourites

The Queensland Government is calling on residents to nominate community heroes and vote for the state's best beaches, bakeries and pubs ahead of QLD Day on 6 June.

Two programs, one celebration

Queenslanders can now get involved in two separate initiatives running ahead of this year's QLD Day: the 2026 QLD Day Awards, which recognise outstanding community members, and the All the Best campaign, where the public votes for their favourite local spots and businesses across 15 categories.

Both programs lead into QLD Day on June 6, which marks the anniversary of Queensland's separation from New South Wales in 1859.

Who can be nominated for the awards?

The QLD Day Awards are aimed at grassroots achievers, community volunteers, local heroes, and organisations that make a difference. The government is encouraging people to think about the unsung contributors in their area, the people who show up consistently but don't always get recognised.

Telstra is sponsoring the awards this year. Rachel Cliffe, the company's Regional General Manager for Queensland, said the awards highlight everyday community members whose efforts help define the state.

What's the All the Best campaign?

The All the Best campaign is the more lighthearted side of QLD Day. It asks Queenslanders to vote across 15 categories for the things they love most about the state, from the best beach and camping spot to the top local pub and bakery.

Premier David Crisafulli said the campaign is about celebrating what makes Queensland home.

"From your local pizzeria to your favourite beach, we want Queenslanders to share what they love most about our amazing State," the Premier said.

Every vote submitted also enters the voter into a prize draw.

Key dates

All the Best winners will be announced on Wednesday 3 June, three days before QLD Day.
