The Numbers
The latest graduation ceremony at the Queensland Police Academy in Oxley on 29 March 2026 saw 61 officers sworn in, pushing the total number of new recruits past the 1,600 election commitment to 1,625.
Of those, 128 have been stationed across the Logan District. The figure places Logan among the top six districts in the state for new officer allocations, behind Far North Queensland (207), North Brisbane (196), South Brisbane (187) and Townsville (184), and ahead of the Gold Coast (106).
State Leaders Respond
Premier David Crisafulli said the government had met its election promise.
“1,600 new police, straight to the frontline to help make Queensland safer,” Crisafulli said.
Police Minister Dan Purdie said the new officers were “already on the ground in communities” across the state.
Acting Queensland Police Commissioner Brett Pointing said the recruitment drive reflected the service’s priorities.
“This milestone highlights our commitment to bolstering the Service, supporting our frontline officers and strengthening community safety,” Pointing said.
Who Are the Recruits?
The 1,625 officers include new recruits and 55 former officers who returned to the service. The latest cohort ranged in age from 24 to 52, with backgrounds spanning teaching, the Australian Defence Force and corrections.
All recruits completed the 20-week Police Accelerated Competency Education (PACE) program at Oxley before being deployed.
Logan’s Policing Boost
The 128 new officers follow other recent policing additions in Logan. In February 2026, a new Police Beat opened at the Logan Hospital precinct in Meadowbrook, staffed by four full-time officers including a hospital liaison officer. That facility also includes a dedicated safe room for domestic and family violence victims and their children.
The Police Beat replaced the former Loganlea station and services the suburbs of Loganlea, Meadowbrook and Waterford West.
